About Logansport State Hospital:

Logansport State Hospital is a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with mental illness.
Using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based programming, we promote recovery and return of the individual to the community.

Salary Information:

This position's salary will be commensurate based on education and/or experience.

About the Job

A Charge Nurse is assigned to the evening or night shift and functions as a patient care coordinator for several clinical units at a state hospital facility.
This is a 12.
5 hr shift position.

A Day in the Life

The essential functions of this roles are as follows:

  • Performs Unit Manager administrative functions;
  • Completes assessment of patients;
  • Applies nursing and/or psycho-social care of patients;
  • Provides nursing care of patients;
  • Performs medication administration and related functions to patients.

What We're Looking For:

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana

What You'll Need for Success

  • License to practice in the State of Indiana as a registered nurse;
  • Specialized knowledge of and the ability to utilize a full range of accepted professional nursing principles and practices;
  • Specialized knowledge of psychiatric nursing, psychology of human behavior and sociology as they relate to individuals, their behavior and condition, families of patients and environmental conditions influencing patient treatment;
  • Working knowledge of Indiana State Department of Health s laws and regulations pertaining to hospitalized patients;
  • Ability to communicate with patients regarding medical and nursing procedures and patient s conditions;
  • Ability to coordinate and develop innovative activities and approaches to patient treatment;
  • High degree of skill in providing care and in reacting effectively to emergency situations;
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
